Why this exists
The feed is filling with synthetic images and unattributed work. Authorship blurs, context disappears, and the people who actually make the pictures lose control of them. Artefakt is built the other way: every contributor is verified, every image carries its provenance, and the work stays connected to its maker.
It’s already happening
This isn’t a forecast. Makers are already losing the audiences they built on platforms they don’t own — by an algorithm’s decision, with no one to appeal to.

Deplatformed overnight — by an algorithm
In July 2026, Meta’s AI wrongly shut down The Bloomingtonian, a real hyperlocal newsroom — accusing a genuine local voice of only “pretending” to be one. 67,000 followers, 111 paying subscribers and ~$11,000/yr in revenue vanished. It was restored nine days later; the subscribers and their payments never came back — and “no human would talk to him further.”
